Caltrans says the Interstate 8 / Imperial Avenue Interchange Project is on track and ahead of schedule.
Work previously scheduled for late January will be performed in early December. Crews are set to begin soundwall construction this week and them move on to bridge abutments through mid-December.
since demolishing the old overpass crews have built the ramps and new bridge abutments on the southern portion of the project. Erosion control measures were installed on the new slopes and drainage systems were installed. Caltrans expects to close the westbound I-8 / Imperial Avenue ramps in early December as the project moves to Stage 2 work. Both East- and westbound ramps will be closed for six to eight months.
