A big rig collided with a small car Monday afternoon.

The accident occurred at about 1:30 p.m. on State Route 98 and Menvielle Road, near the East Port of Entry. Minor injuries were reported and the fuel tank of the big rig spilled an estimated 35 gallons of fuel. The eastbound lane of the highway was blocked for nearly 4 hours while crews from Caltrans and a HazMat crew worked to contain the spill. The roadway was opened at about 5:30 p.m. and the HazMat team is expected to return Tuesday to finish the cleanup.
