At a Special Meeting of the El Centro City Council Monday a new Council Member was sworn in.

And the Council reorganized. Michael Crankshaw was sworn in as the fifth member of the council. He was selected to replace Tomas Oliva who resigned several weeks ago. In remarks, the new Council Member pledged to work hard for the city. He is a former El Centro Police Department Commander and former Chief of Police for the City of Brawley and former Interim Police Chief for the City of Imperial. When he resigned, Oliva was serving as Mayor of the city. Mayor Pro Tem Sonia Carter filled the vacancy and at today's meeting was chosen to serve as Mayor. Council member Marty Ellet will serve as Mayor Pro Tem.
