Imperial Irrigation District is warning customers that scammers are becoming more active.

The district reports that, in the last few days, they have received reports from customers that individuals are calling and threatening to disconnect the customer's electrical service if an immediate payment is not made. The scammers request payment be made using Zelle, an online digital payment application. The calls are apparently being spoofed so that they appear to be from the IID. If you receive a call like this the IID advises that you hang up immediately and report it to the IID and local law enforcement agencies.
