Cal Fire was having a difficult time getting the upper hand on the fire that began September 5th. The fire was very aggressive, burning through thick brush, causing significant evacuations, destroying 35 structures and damaging six others. Two people were killed and one injured. The best crews could do was 5% containbment. Then came the storm. flash flooding, light wind and rain all worked in favor of the fire fighters. The latest report issued Monday morning indicates the fire is now 53% contained at 28,307 acres. There 2,256 personnel on scene in Riverside County, including a task force sent from Imperial County.
