(Border Patrol makes another rescue)...It was in the Jacumba Wilderness Region near Ocotillo.
At just after 2 in the morning, California Highway Patrol notified El Centro Sector Border Patrol regarding a person in distress. The report indicated the person was dehydrated and could not walk to Interstate 8. Agents working the area were notified and given the latest GPS coordinates. About an hour later they found the individual about six miles north of the US/Mexico Border. The agents provided water to the individual, and a wellness check determined no medical assistance was needed. The agents also determined the individual had entered the US illegally. The person was taken into custody and transported to El Centro to be processed. Since October, El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents have successfully rescued 175 individuals who were lost, in distress or abandoned by smugglers.
