A three-alarm fire caused significant damage in Heber.

The fire was reported at about 1:00 p.m. Monday on Fawcett Road, east of Dogwood Road. Imperial County Fire Department responded and immediately requested mutual aid. Personnel and equipment from El Centro, Brawley, Calexico, Westmorland and Centinela State Prison responded. The American Red Cross also was on hand to support firefighters. According to County Fire, multiple vehicles, including two box trucks, and several mobile homes were destroyed. One family was displaced. Several acres of a nearby field were also burned. Clean up operations continued until nearly 7:00 p.m. Monday. Cause of the fire was not released.
