(Local Catholics mourn the passing of their former Bishop)...Robert Brom passed away on Monday.

He was 83. He had served the San Diego Diocese as Bishop for 23 years. From 1990 until his retirement in 2013.. The Diocese covers San Diego and Imperial Counties. The passing was announced by the current Bishop, Robert McElroy. The statement said, in part, that Bishop Brom was a pastor, Teacher and servant leader of the Catholic community in San Diego and Imperial Counties for 23 years. Services for Bishop Brom will be held on May 17 at 11 am at the Saint Therese of Carmel Church in Del Mar Heights
