The California Highway Patrol is investigating an accident that claimed the life of a motorcyclist.

The accident occurred at noon on Sunday at State Route 78 and Whitlock Road.  According to the CHP, the motorcycle was westbound on Highway 78 when the 79-year-old rider was unable to negotiate a slight curve in the roadway. The Harley went off the road and hit a sandy shoulder ejecting the rider. The driver sustained fatal injuries. The accident remains under investigation. The name of the victim has not been released.
