(The number of active cases of COVID 19)...The numbers are fairly steady.

The County Public Health Department updated the COVID 19 numbers Thursday morning. According to the new numbers, there are now 575 active cases of COVID 19 in the county. That compares to 578 active cases reported Tuesday. Hospitalizations remain at 61. 15 of those are still in Intensive care. There are still 30 ventilators in use at county hospitals. The dominant COVID variant in Imperial County is still the Delta Variant. 890 cases of the variant have been reported since the variant was first encountered in Imperial County in December 2020. Health Officials say there still has not been any Omicron Variant recorded in Imperial County. The best defense against the Corona virus is  still vaccination. As of Thursday morning there have been over 317,000 doses of vaccine administered in the county.
