The El Centro Police Department will hold a Driving Under the Influence Checkpoint.

Be warned, El Centro Police will be manning a checkpoint from 6 PM Saturday to 2 AM Sunday near the intersection of Imperial Avenue and Holt. The location is based on data showing incidents of impaired driving-related to crashes. According to El Centro Police Sgt Adrian Chilpa, the primary purpose of the checkpoint is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers of the road. Funding for the program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
