(CBP Operational Statistics for July)....The stats are for the CBP Southwest Border Enforcement for last month.
In July there were 199,976 encounters along the land border, a 4 percent decrease compared to the June encounters. An encounter is the detention of suspected illegal border crossers. Of the encounters in July, 22 % had at least one prior encounter in the past 12 months. Two thirds of the encounters were single males, down 4 % from the June numbers. 37% were processed for expulsion. 9,574 encounters involving family unit individuals were processed for expulsion. Encounters of unaccompanied children were at 13,299, down 13 percent from the June encounters. Encounters of family unit individuals were at 52,040, an increase of 0.4 percent compared to June.
