(Active cases of COVID 19 increase)....The latest COVID 19 numbers were released Tuesday morning.
The numbers are provided by the County Public Health Department. According to the new numbers, active cases of COVID 19 have increased by over 400 cases since the last report. There are now 1,522 active cases of COVID in Imperial County, as compared to 1,087 cases reported last Thursday. The surge is being attributed to the new sub-variant of the virus. Officials say the sub-variant is much more contagious than the Omicron variant. The new cases per day per 100,000 population is now at 52.30, with a positivity rate of 40.29. The CDC says the sub-variant is much less severe to those who are vaccinated and boosted. Deaths attributed to the virus are now at 942, an increase of one since the previous report.
