A man was arrested after taking an excavator for a joy ride.

El Centro police responded to the report of a man driving an excavator near Central Union High School at about 2:50 p.m. Saturday. The report said the man looked suspicious. Officers were able to detain the suspect and investigation determined that the excavator belonged to a contractor working at CUHS The suspect was booked into Imperial County Jail on charges of Grand Theft.
