(Dunes cleanup is coming up)...It is scheduled for January 15.

Desert enthusiasts are invited to the 24th annual Sand Dunes Cleanup. It is hosted by a Coalition of OHV Advocacy Organizations. They say the event is vital to the sustainability of the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area, helping keep the dunes clean and open for all to enjoy. It is also fun for the entire family. It will be a fee-free weekend at the Imperial Sand Dune Recreation Area Friday, January 14 through Monday, January 17. Registration sites will be open in both the North and South Dune areas. North Dune registration areas include Glamis Flats and Gecko Road, near the Sand Drags. South Dune registration areas include Gordon's Well and Buttercup Registration starts at 8 am. The first 1,000 to register will receive a free event t-shirt. A Hotdog lunch is included at 12 noon.
