(Take Back Day was a success)...It was organized by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
On October 23rd close to 5,000 collection sites were set up across the nation, including Imperial County. The sites are set up periodically to allow resident to properly dispence unwanted or expired drugs in their households. The DEA says during the 21st National Take Back Day, they collected 745,000 pounds of inneeded perscriptions from medicine cabinets across the country. The program has removed more than 15.2 million pounds of medication from circulation since its inception. They have not released local collection numbers.
