(COVID 19 cases continue to increase)...The latest COVID numbers were released Tuesday morning.

The numbers are provided by the County Public Health Department. According to the new numbers, active cases of COVID 19 in Imperial County are now at 516. That is up from the 473 cases reported last Thursday. There are now 22 COVID positive cases hospitalized in the county. Of those, 6 are in Intensive care. The State Tier Metrics for Imperial County show a positivity rate of 8.8%. New cases per day per 100,000 population is at 23. Deaths attributed to the virus in Imperial County are now at 766. Total COVID Vaccine doses administered in Imperial County are at almost 280,000. The variant of concern in Imperial County is still the Delta variant. Cases of the variant, however are on the decline. They peaked in August and have declined significantly in September and October.
