El Centro Police recovered a car that had been reported stolen about 30 minutes earlier.

The 2017 Honda was reported taken from a shopping center at 4th and Ross in El Centro t about 12:52 p.m. Thursday. A witness said a woman , possibly a transient , was seen getting in the car and driving away. The car was spotted a short time later at 1st and Ross and then went eastbound on Ross before being stopped in the 200 block of East Ross. A nearby school was locked down while officers detained the suspect at gunpoint. The suspect , a 57-year old woman who also had several outstanding warrants , was cited and released. Charges included Grand Theft Auto and Possession of Stolen Property.
