The typical blue skies of the Imperial Valley have been hazy the past few days.
According to the National Weather Service that's because of the fires burning in Central and Northern California. Satellite imaging shows that residual smoke from the record setting wild fires has been moving southward and drifting into the Imperial Valley. According to CalFire , the Dixie Fire has consumed nearly 640,000 acres in Butte , Plumas , Lassen and Tehama Counties and destroyed over 1,200 structures. The Caldor Fire in El Dorado County has burned approximately 54,000 acres. The McFarland Fire in Shasta County has scorched over 107,000 acres and the Monument Fire in Trinity County has burned nearly 130,000 acres. The fires are expected to continue to burn as high temperatures and low humidity along with gusty winds have hampered firefighting efforts.
