The California Highway Patrol has released more information about the traffic accident that claimed the life of an Imperial County Sheriff's Office deputy.

Deputy Anthony Redondo was driving a marked ICSO patrol car westbound on Aten Road at about 7:30 p.m. Saturday evening. A pickup truck pulling a trailer was southbound on Forrester Road and driven by 33-year old Manuel Orozco of Seeley when the vehicles collided in the intersection. Redondo sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Orozco suffered minor injuries. 27-year old Andres Orozco of Seeley and 31-year old Jesus Ruelas of Imperial were transported to Desert Regional Medical Center by air ambulance with serious injuries. Two other passengers in the truck , Luis Amafillas , 18 and Trent Cox , 18 , both of Imperial , were taken to local hospitals for treatment of minor injuries. The crash is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol's Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team.
