( Two rescued, miles apart)....Both rescues were on Monday.

The first rescue was in the mountains near Ocotillo. The El Centro Sector Border Patrol recieved a call from the California Highway Patrol about 4:00 in the morning. The CHP relayed a 911 call from an individual who said he was not in distress, but he was lost and tired. The Boirder Patrol assembled its Mountain Disrupt Unit and, using the coordinates from the callers cell phone, began the search. The man was located at just after 9:00 am Monday. A wellfare check determined the man was not in need of medical attention. It was determined the man had entered the US illegally. He was processed for deportation. Just minutes after that man was found, Remote Video Surveillance operators out of Calexico observed two men attempt to cross into the US by swimming across the All American Canal. One of the individuals was successful. The other individual had problems. The individual was using an innertube and holding on the the buoy line, but could only make it about half-way across the canal. The El Centro BORSTAR team was dispatched. They entered the canal and successfully rescued the individual. Other than being tired, the individual did not need medical attention. He was processed for removal.
