(The first pediatric death due to COVID 19)... The Imperial County Public Health Department confirmed the death.

It was the first death of a child in Imperial County due to complications from COVID 19. Public Health says they were first notified of the death of a child under the age of nine several weeks ago. They say case investigations take time to complete as proper documents need to bve received and properly reviewed. The investigation for this particular case was completed on May 14th. The child was found to have no underlying health conditions. To protect the privacy of the child and their family, no other patient information will be disclosed.
