The California Highway Patrol had an exceptionally busy Tuesday morning.

It started at about 5:21 a.m. when officers responded to a a single-vehicle rollover accident on eastbound Interstate 8 near the Westside Main Canal. Traffic was backed up for a time as a big rig driver blocked both lanes of the freeway on purpose to keep others from running over a victim in the roadway. One lane of the freeway was opened about an hour later and both lanes opened up a short time later. One victim was reported to have sustained major injuries. 

About 30 minutes after the first accident was reported another accident occurred on northbound Forrester Road near Johnson Road. A vehicle went out of control and ended up in a drainage ditch. One person suffered major injuries in the accident.

At about 7:30 a.m. an accident at McGrew and Chick Roads was reported. A vehicle went into the Ash Canal. No injuries were reported.

At 8:42 a.m. Tuesday another accident was reported. This one on West Eddins Road just east of Sperry Road. A pickup truck ended up on it's roof in a drain ditch. No injuries were reported.

All accidents remain under investigation.
