The Imperial Valley College Gym will switch from an Alternate Care Site to a Quarantine and Isolation Shelter.

The local college gym has been in use as an Alternate Care Site since the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now Imperial County , Imperial Valley College and the State of California will transition the facility to a temporary shelter for COVID-19 positive and / or individuals that have been exposed to the virus and otherwise would have no place to shelter or quarantine. The site is expected to be able to house more than 80 people and is expected to be operational by Tuesday , March 23, 2021. To protect the health and safety of those working and sheltering at the site , IVC's gym and surrounding areas will be off limits and blocked off from public access.
