A car reported stolen in Los Angeles was recovered in Imperial County Monday.

The car was found underwater in the Coachella Canal near English Road. Local authorities worked much of the day getting the car out of the canal. The water level was lowered to expedite the recovery. An estimated 70 feet of chain link fence was damaged when the abandoned car careened into the canal. The incident remains under investigation.
