Criminal charges have been filed against the Imperial County Auditor.

The Imperial County District Attorney's Office has filed criminal charges against Imperial County Auditor Josue Guadalupe Mercado. Mercado has been charged with one felony , Public Office Crime and one misdemeanor , Disobeying a Court Order. The District Attorney's Office alleges that Mercado abused his position as an elected official , Imperial County Auditor , to circumvent a Family Court order garnishing his own wages. Mercado is to be arraigned on April 16 , 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in Brawley Superior Court.
