The number of active COVID-19 cases in Imperial County has dropped to a level not seen in a year.

As of the Wednesday morning update from the Imperial County Public Health Department there are 55 active coronavirus individuals in the Valley. That's down from the 67 reported Tuesday. The number of deaths attributed to the virus has remained at 684. New cases per day per 100,000 population dropped from 4.1 on Tuesday to 3.43 on Wednesday while the positivity rate declined from Tuesday's 8.12% to 7.48% on Wednesday. Last week Imperial County moved into the RED Tier of the state metrics for reopening the economy and with the County metrics remaining low the ORANGE Tier is getting closer.
