The Mayan Hotel in El Centro burned Saturday night.

The fire was reported at about 11:00 p.m. Saturday. Equipment and personnel from six fire departments battled the blaze in the building at 6th and State in El Centro. The fire was contained by about 1:00 a.m. but not controlled until later. The hotel building was condemned by the city several years ago. It is believed that no one was in the building. Firefighters were on the site most of Sunday. Cause of the fire remains under investigation. The El Centro Fire Department received mutual aid from Calexico , Brawley , Westmorland , Holtville , Imperial and NAF El Centro.
