U.S. Border Patrol agents in the Imperial and Yuma Valleys have been busy.
Thursday afternoon at about 5:00 p.m. A Border Patrol roving patrol arrested a U.S. citizen smuggling 8 illegal aliens in the cabin of his semi-truck. Agents encountered the man at an Interstate 8 rest stop east of Yuma. Seven Mexican nationals and a Honduran national were found hiding in the truck. The driver , a 43-year old man , was arrested and booked on smuggling charges. One of the passengers was found to be convicted felon who had previously been deported.
Friday afternoon Border Patrol agents arrested a 33-year old illegal immigrant from Mexico. The man was apprehended about 29 miles west of Calexico. A records check found the man was a previously removed individual and a member of the Sureno gang. He is being held in federal custody pending charges.
Borer Patrol agents in downtown Calexico recovered narcotics that were thrown over the International Boundary fence in two separate incidents. The first incident occurred late Friday in the area of First and Dool Streets while second incident occurred at about 6:00 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of First and Heber Streets. The first package contained cocaine with a street value of $6,600 and the second package contained methamphetamine worth nearly $4,000. No arrests were made in either incident.
