If you are going to steal a car it might be wise to not drive it in El Centro.

Shortly after midnight El Centro Police dispatch was notified by an Automated License Plate Reader that a pick up truck reported stolen in Seeley was seen eastbound on Danenberg Road. The pick up had been stolen while left parked at a Seeley store. El Centro police coordinated with the California Highway Patrol and were able to locate a suspect. A witness to the theft was contacted and was able to identify the suspect as the thief. The suspect was cited for Grand Theft Vehicle. The truck was returned to the registered owner. The Automated License Plate Readers have assisted El Centro Police in recovering several stolen vehicles in the past week.
