An early morning accident claimed the life of a Yuma motorist.

According to the Yuma County Sheriff's Office , the accident occurred at about 3:00 a.m. Friday in the area of Avenue G and County 15th Street. Initial investigation shows that a small SUV that was eastbound on County 15th Street failed to stop at a posted stop sign at Avenue G. The SUV collided with a small pick up that was northbound on Avenue G. The driver of the SUV was taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center and than transferred to a Phoenix hospital with major injuries. The driver of the pick up truck , identified as 58-year old Crispin Montano-Villela of Yuma , was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident remains under investigation. According to YCSO , alcohol appears to be a factor in the collision.
