(IID comments on the passing of Kevin Kelley)...He passed away Tuesday morning.

He was 61 years of age. In a statement, the Imperial Irrigation District says they are deeply saddened by the passing of Kevin Kelley, the former General Manager for the district. IID Board President James Hanks said the Brawley native loved the Imperial Valley and dedicated himself to making it a better place. Hanks said Kelley's knowledge of the history of the Imperial Valley and the Colorado River was unmatched and widely recognized, and he used it for good. Hanks went on to say Kelley was a statesman for the Imperial Valley, championing many crtical efforts, most notably drawing attention and action to the Salton Sea and the protection of Imperial Valley's water rights. Hanks said Kevin Kelley's passing was truly a deep loss for his family, for the district, and for the greater Imperial Valley community. He said Kelley's exemplary work in representing the community, his unique wit, intelligence, and talent will forever be missed.
