(Border Patrol arrests gang member)...It happened early Monday morning.

At just before 1:00 am Border Patrol agents arrested a man about 18 miles east of the Calexico Port of Entry. It was determined the man had entered the US illegally. During an immigration and criminal history screening it was determined the man was a 38 year old Mexican National. He was also a self-admitted Paisas Street Gang member with a previous arrest for illegal entry into the United States. He also had a conviction history for several narcotics offenses. He had been sentenced to over 9 years in prison for his offenses. An immigration judge had ordered the man deported back to Mexico in 2008. He was placed in federal custody pending federal prosecution for re-entry after prior removal from the United States.
