The Imperial County Elections Department released updated numbers from the November 3 General Election.
As of Sunday two local races remain close. The race for the second seat on the Heber Elementary School Board sees some separation. Helen Diaz Molina has 676 votes extending her lead over Claudette J. Miranda to 77 votes. The previous update showed a 2 vote advantage to Molina. The race for the third seat on the El Centro City Council got a bit tighter. Efrain Silva has 5,032 votes to Edgard Garcia’s 5006. Silva’s lead is now just 26 votes.
this is not a final tally as the count continues. According to state mandates the election must be certified by December 3 , 2020.
