The latest update has Buttner in the lead for that seat. She has led in that race since the polls closed November third. The question is, can Buttner hold that seat if she does, indeed, out poll her opponent considering the fact she is awaiting trial on charges she filed false candidacy papers in her race for the Imperial County Office of Education Board and Grand theft? The answer is, yes she can. County District Attorney Gilbert Otero said recently she was entitled to hold an elected office unless it is determined she could not. That determination has not been made. As for her current Charges, Buttnr and her new Attorney are set to appear in Superior Court on February 1. Otero said the prosecution is ready to go to trial.
