The numbers were released Friday morning by the Labor Market Information Division of the Employment Development Department. According to the latest report, the unemployment rate in Imperial County was 18.9% in June. That is up from a revised 17.6% in May, and above the year ago estimate of 17.5%. This compares with an unadjusted unemployment rate of 5.7% for California and 4.4% for the nation during the same period. According to the June report, there were 14,000 eligible workers unemployed out of a labor force of 74,500 in Imperial County. Imperial County, again, had the highest unemployment rate in the state.
