(Almost 50 pounds of narcotics discovered)...It happened over the weekend.

A man drove a Hyundai up to the Highway 86 Border Patrol Checkpoint. A Border Patrol Canine Team alerted to the vehicle, and it was sent to the secondary inspection area. During a search of the vehicle, agents found packages hidden in the fuel tank. The packages tested positive for methamphetamine and fentanyl. The meth weighed over 43 pounds and was valued at around $96,950. The fentanyl weighed almost 6 pounds and was valued at around $63,000. The driver of the vehicle, a 38 year old Legal Permanent Resident from Mexico, the vehicle and the narcotics were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.
