(El Centro awarded a grant)…It was announced Monday.

The City of El Centro said they had been awarded a $550,000 grant from the Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration through the CARES Act Recovery Assistance. The supplemental grant was awarded to alleviate the sudden and severe economic dislocation caused by the COVID 19 pandemic to the community. The grant will be used to provide business assistance loans that range from $15,000 to $50,000. In order to qualify, the business must be located within the city limits of El Centro and have a valid business license, and must be able to demonstrate a negative impact to business operations due to COVID 19.
