(Progress at the Carmel Fire)…Cal Fire released an update Thursday morning.

The fire is in Monterey County and has been burning since August 18. Cal Fire says the blaze has burned 6,695 acres. They say the fire is now 45 percent contained. An Imperial County Strike Team is among the 14 crews assigned to the fire. Evacuations and road closures remain in place. The fire has now damaged 7 structures and destroyed 73 others. No injuries have been reported. Among the damaged structures, 6 are residences. 50 homes have been destroyed.
