(128 pounds of meth seized)…Four were arrested.

It happened in two separate incidents at the Border Patrol Checkpoint on Interstate 8, Between Campo and Pine Valley. Friday afternoon a man and a woman drove up to the checkpoint in a 1999 Toyota. A canine alerted to the 4Runner. The vehicle was sent to the secondary inspection area. A search of the vehicles resulted in the discovery of packages of methamphetamine hidden in the spare tire. The 85 packages weighed a total of 86.4 pounds. The 22 year old male driver and 24 year old female passenger were both arrested. Sunday a 19 year old male drove into the checkpoint. A canine alerted to the Chevy and it was sent to the secondary inspection area. A detailed search revealed 40 plastic wrapped packages inside the vehicle’s gas tank. The packages contained 41.7 pounds of meth. The driver and his 18 year old female passenger were arrested. All four of those arrested were US Citizens.
