(Convicted murderer arrested)…It happened Wednesday at around 9:15 am.

A Border Patrol agent was conducting surveillance on a vehicle that was trying to avoid the Highway 86 checkpoint. The agent finally stopped the vehicle near Fink Road and the Coachella Canal. The agent conducted an immigration inspection. The agent determined two of the occupants in the rear seat had entered the US illegally. The driver and the front seat passenger were determined to both be 18 year old US citizens. Both of the illegal migrants were determined to be Mexican Nationals. The four were taken to the El Centro Station. A records check revealed the 39 year old male illegal had been convicted of murder in Santa Ana in 2003. He had been sentenced to 8 years in prison. In 2009 he had bend ported back to Mexico. The man was being held in Federal custody. The 25 year old Mexican was deported. The driver and front seat passenger were arrested and charged with human smuggling.
