(I-8 Project officially complete)…It was the Major Pavement Rehabilitation Project.
It covered 48 miles on Interstate 8 in Imperial County. From Highway 111 to the California/Arizona border. Crews finished work earlier this week. Wednesday was the celebration. Representatives from Cal Trans, the Imperial County Transportation Commission, local officials and the California Highway Patrol gathered to celebrate the completion of the project. The I-8 Update Project began in 2016 to replace half a century old concrete lanes on Interstate 8. Final elements of the project will be complete by the end of the month. The project came in under budget, at $322.3 million.
