(Power cut to east San Diego County residents)….Over 19,000 customers were without power Friday.
San Diego Gas and Electric said they cut the power for safety reasons. They said the Red Flag conditions prompted the action. A Red Flag condition is extreme fire hazards created by strong winds and dry conditions. Temperatures have been in the upper 90’s in some areas, with winds gusting between 64 to 77 miles per hour. Power outages covered several areas, including Boulevard, Campo, Cuyamaca, Jacumba, Julian, Pine Valley, Alpine and others. Schools in those areas were also closed. The National Weather Service said the Red Flag Warning would continue until 5:00 Friday evening.
