(Apartment fire)…It was reported Tuesday.
Yuma Fire received the call at 7:35 Tuesday evening. They arrived at the scene at La Posada Apartments, 1900 West 30th Street. They say a fire in an apartment bedroom had activated the fire sprinkler system, and that extinguished the fire. The fire crew confirmed the fire was completely out, and then ventilated the smoke from the apartment. Two people in the apartment were able to evacuate safely. They were assisted by the American Red Cross in finding temporary lodging. The fire is believed to have started in a bedroom television set. Damage was limited to the TV and surrounding items, and to the wall behind the TV. The residents were expected to reoccupy the apartment Wednesday.
