An accident involving a big rig that overturned blocked Interstate 8 at Drew Road for nearly 10 hours Saturday.

The accident was reported at 10:34 a.m. Saturday when the tractor trailer rig hauling large wooden beams flipped over on westbound Interstate 8 and spilled it's load blocking both lanes of the freeway. The driver of the big rig had to be extricated from the wreckage by emergency personnel. The driver suffered minor injuries. Eastbound traffic was detoured for about an hour following the collision but a westbound detour remained in effect until 8:20 p.m. The accident remains under investigation.
