A Mexicali mas is in custody after 395 pounds of methamphetamine was discovered stashed in his truck.
The seizure was made Friday evening at the Calexico East commercial facility. According to Area Port Director David Salazar , a roving canine team was a major factor in the discovery of the meth that was hidden in a shipment manifested as decorative rock. CBP officers encountered the tractor trailer rig at about 6:15 p.m. Friday. During preliminary inspection , a CBP canine team alerted to vehicle. Officers used the port's X-ray imaging system and detected anomalies within the artificial rocks. Hollow areas in the rocks contained 120 packages of methamphetamine concealed inside. The meth weighed a total of 395 pounds and has a street value of $1.1 million. The driver , a 66-year old Mexicali resident , was arrested a booked into Imperial County Jail pending arraignment.
