The Imperial Irrigation District has executed agreements to secure additional energy from local geothermal resources.

The agreement with BHE Renewables, through its CalEnergy subsidiary, secures 86 megawatts of geothermal energy from the Salton Sea 4 and Leathers geothermal projects near Calipatria. The 10-year agreements support the continued operations and the local workforce associated with these generating facilities and provides IID customers with a dependable source of renewable energy. Deliveries are scheduled to begin January 1, 2027.  86 megawatts of energy will power roughly 100,000 homes.
