The City of Brawley clarified the Main Library closure.

In a press release, the city said the closure is necessary for construction and air conditioning repairs. The unreliable HVAC system has prevented the city from operating the Brawley Public Library as a Cooling Station. Just last week, the city received confirmation from the contractor that the work on the main library would take place from August 3 through the 14th. Library services are still available at the Del Rio Branch. The Main Library will continue to serve as a hydration station during the work. Due to the Lions Center and Teen Center currently hosting summer recreation program for kids and cannot operate as Cooling Centers. City staff is evaluating other possible sites for a Cooling Center in Brawley.
