El Centro Police pursued a felony suspect to the Pine Valley checkpoint.

On Sunday, El Centro dayshift patrol officers located a vehicle that was suspected of being involved with several thefts in El Centro. The driver also had an active felony warrant out of Riverside County. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver failed to yield and a pursuit began that went westbound on Interstate 8, heading towards San Diego County where the suspect lives. El Centro officers coordinated with the California Highway Patrol and the U.S. Border Patrol during the chase. At the Pine Valley checkpoint, Border Patrol agents deployed a spike strip ending the pursuit. The suspect was taken into custody and then booked into Imperial County Jail on various felony charges and for his outstanding warrant.
