Thursday, January 9, 2025, is a National Day of Mourning.
The Executive Order was made to honor President Jimmy Carter who passed away on December 29, 2024 at the age of 100. Flags will be flown at half-staff for the 30-days after Carters death. Many services and businesses will be open as it is not a federal holiday. As part of the executive order, all federal departments and agencies will be closed. Many local government agencies and services will also be closed. The New York Stock Exchange will not trade and the U. S. Postal Service will not be operating.
